Chair, Linda Brooks

Linda is from Newport News and has been involved with the caucus since 2008. She was former chair of the Family Life Education Advisory Committee and a member of the Commission on Youth. She was heavily involved in the PTAs where her two children, Kim and Chris, attended. Linda is committed to making our schools, community, and state inclusive to all. She loves loves photography, traveling, and reading biographies.

First Vice Chair, Deloris Jones Thomas

Deloris is a long-time member of the Women’s Caucus. She is currently serving on the Electoral Board for the City of Newport News and is a board member of the Women’s Club of Hilton Village. Deloris enjoys travel, baking, quilting and spending time with her great grandchildren.

Second Vice Chair, Susan Hippen

Susan is a retired Navy Master Chief with 25 years of active-duty and a Gold-Star widow living in Virginia Beach. She has served as the Virginia Beach Democratic Committee Vice-Chair and was appointed to the Virginia Board of Veterans Services for 2 terms. She encourages and mentors women, minorities, and young people running for office and loves her Cleveland Browns.

Third Vice Chair, Marj Signer

Marj Signer has a long history advocating for women’s rights. She has served as President of the Virginia chapter of the National Organization for Women and is its Legislative Vice President. She is the recipient of the Arlington County Commission on the Status of Women Lifetime Achievement Award (2014) and was twice appointed a member of the Virginia Governor’s Council on the Status of Women.

 

Treasurer, Maria Posey

Maria lives in Burke with her husband and two young sons. She works for a non-profit organization that advises governments how to better use data and funding to equitably improve peoples’ lives. She co-chairs the Women’s Caucus of the Fairfax County Democratic Committee and coordinates the childcare issue group for the Virginia League of Women Voters. Maria serves as President of the Board for a tutoring organization and co-founded Burke Advocacy Moms (BAM).

Secretary, Laurie Buchwald

Laurie is a former member of Radford City Council and a former appointee to the Board for Professional and Occupational Regulations. In 2015 she founded Elect Women SWVA, a grassroots organization that encourages women to run for office. In her professional life she is a Nurse Practitioner. She is also a single Mother, a passionate photographer, a motorcycle rider and a recent Candidate for Virginia Senate in the 38th District.

2nd District - Dr. Amelia Ross-Hammond

Dr. Ross-Hammond is a former Councilwoman and former Vice Chair of the Democratic Committee in Virginia Beach. She is the founder of the Virginia African American Cultural Center, Inc. (VAACC). She holds a PhD in Education Leadership and recently retired from Norfolk State University as Professor Emeritus. She has served on several boards and is currently appointed as a Commissioner for the Hampton Roads Transportation system.

3rd District - Tiffany Boyle

Tiffany Boyle is a mom, an entrepreneur, and a public servant. She was elected as Commissioner for the Revenue in Newport News in 2017 where she oversees a budget exceeding $2.5 million along with over 40 professionals. Tiffany’s motivations to run for the position in 2017 stemmed from a desire to improve her community.

3rd District - Angela Reason

Angela F. Reason is a life-long resident of Newport News. She is a devoted wife, a Mother of three, and a committed public servant. In 2019, she was elected Clerk of the Newport News Circuit Court and become the youngest sitting Elected Official, the first woman, and the first African American to hold the position.

 

4th District - Julie Hunter

Julie Hunter was born and raised in Manassas and has been a long-time member of the Democratic Party of Virginia steering committee. She has worked at the Virginia AFL-CIO for 14 years where she mobilizes union members in campaigns, recruits volunteers, and lobbies on issues like paid family leave and collective bargaining. She loves soccer, cooking, and travel.

5th District - Clem Oliver

Clomeniea "Clem" Oliver lives in Danville, Virginia. She has devoted her work to helping others. She is a member of the Black Caucus, NAACP. Clem is the proud mother of two young men - one a 20-year veteran of the Marines and the other a Fire Fighter in Virginia Beach. She has four grandchildren.

7th District - Sue Nelson Sargeant

Sue Nelson Sargeant is a speech-language pathologist in Spotsylvania and holds a Master’s degree from James Madison University. She is an active member of the Virginia Democratic Party and the Women’s Caucus.

 

8th District - Maureen Markham

Maureen Markham is a life-long Democrat and champion of women's rights, with over 40 years of community leadership experience. She is retired from the Arlington County Housing Division where she worked on financing affordable housing developments, and presently serves as President of the Board of Arlington Neighborhood Village, an organization dedicated to helping older residents live in their own homes as long as possible.

9th District - Susan Stancill

Susan Stancill is a social justice advocate and grassroots organizer who has been active in Southwest Virginia politics for the last 6 years. She served as the Deputy Campaign Manager and Finance Director for Anthony Flaccavento for Congress and as the Regional Political Director for Sam Rasoul for Lieutenant Governor. Susan holds a BA and a JD degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.

10th District – Liz Carter

Liz Carter is the newly appointed representative to the Women’s Caucus from the 10th Congressional District. She is a wife, mother of two, technical sales professional, community volunteer and grassroots organizer. Liz started the Loudoun County chapter of the National Organization for Women (NOW) in 2019 and has been in leadership with the Loudoun County Democratic Committee since 2016.

11th District - Holly Seibold

Holly Seibold is the Founder and Executive Director of Bringing Resources to Aid Women's Shelters (BRAWS). She is a fierce advocate for women's rights, testifying in favor of increased access to menstrual supplies in shelters, schools, jails, and prisons. She serves on the VA Council on Women and the Fairfax County Community Action Advisory Board. She holds a Master in Elementary Education from Georgetown University.
